Media Studio overview
Media Studio is a project-based video and audio editor for social clips, product promos, captioned videos, and branded short-form content.
Create a video
- Choose Media Studio in the main navigation.
- Select the project that should own the video.
- Choose New video.
- Enter a title.
- Choose a blank 9:16, 1:1, or 16:9 timeline, or select a template.
- Choose Create.
Templates can prefill text, shapes, timing, and reusable layout content. Personal video, audio, and image files are not bundled into shared templates.
Understand the workspace
- Assets stores project video, images/icons, and audio.
- Preview plays or scrubs the current result and lets you position supported visual elements.
- Toolbar imports clips, adds text, generates captions, opens Elements or Sound effects, adds brand tools, controls playback, splits clips, duplicates, changes speed, and deletes.
- Timeline arranges clips across video, text, element, and audio tracks.
- Properties edits the selected clip's content, transform, crop, sound, filter, transition, animation, or keyframes.
On narrow screens, Assets and Properties move into drawers so the preview keeps more room.
Import video, images, and audio
- Open Assets and choose Import.
- Select Video, Image or icon, or Music or voiceover.
- Pick a supported file and wait for it to finish saving.
- Select the asset to place it on the focused compatible track.
Supported library images include PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, and SVG. Supported audio includes MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG, and WebM.
Edit the timeline
- Drag clips to move them and drag edges to trim timing.
- Place the playhead and choose Split at playhead.
- Leave gaps or choose Close gaps to pack video clips together.
- Toggle snapping to align with the playhead, zero, or other clip edges.
- Add tracks, focus a target track, or move a selected clip to another compatible track.
- Hide, mute, or lock individual tracks.
- Add another video layer for picture-in-picture.
- Use Shift, Ctrl, Command, or marquee selection to edit several clips together.
- Use Undo/Redo or Ctrl/Command shortcuts to reverse changes.
Generate automatic captions
Automatic captions require a video source that has finished saving and enough AI credits.
- Choose Automatic captions.
- Select Auto-detect or English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Twi, Hausa, or Yoruba.
- Choose Boxed, Classic, Highlight, or Subtitle styling.
- Choose whether to replace earlier automatic captions.
- Choose Generate.
Captions become normal editable text clips. Correct wording, move or trim timing, and change typography after generation.
Add sound and visual elements
The Sound effects library includes 70 built-in CC0 clips across Meme, Game, UI/Tech, Transition, Cinematic, Action, and Cartoon/Retro categories, plus sounds added by Suitly administrators. Search, preview, and add a sound at the playhead.
The Elements library provides shapes and admin-managed icons or stickers. Images and shapes can be moved, scaled, rotated, masked, cropped, rounded, or used as full-screen backgrounds.
For audio, adjust volume, fades, speed, timing, and volume keyframes. You can also detach a video's source audio onto its own editable track.
Use effects, transitions, and keyframes
- Set video speed from 0.5× to 2×.
- Apply Vivid, Warm, Cool, Monochrome, or Cinematic filters.
- Adjust brightness, contrast, and saturation.
- Use cut, fade, dissolve, slide, or zoom transitions.
- Add fade, slide, zoom, pop, pulse, float, wobble, spin, or bounce animation.
- Keyframe position, scale, rotation, opacity, or volume, then choose easing.
Add Brand Kit elements
Media Studio reuses the project's Design Studio Brand Kit. Add a logo bug, an editable lower-third, or a branded outro card. Set up the project logo, colours, and fonts in Design Studio first.
Export a video
- Finish all asset uploads.
- Open the top-right menu.
- Choose 480p, 720p, 1080p, or 4K.
- Keep the tab open while the timeline renders in real time.
- When progress reaches 100%, check browser downloads.
Suitly prefers MP4 where the browser supports it and otherwise downloads WebM. Video layers, text, captions, elements, audio, transitions, and effects are composed into the finished file.
Current limits and troubleshooting
- Full editing and export are web-first.
- Persisted assets are limited to 75 MB each.
- Export performance depends on the browser and device; 4K is demanding on lower-power hardware.
- Client export runs in real time, so a one-minute timeline can take about one minute.
- There is no general server-render fallback yet.
If export does not download, use a current Chromium browser, allow downloads, keep the tab active, and try 480p or 720p before retrying a larger preset.
